A Book Review (sort of): The Way They Learn
This book came highly recommended to me by my Mother when I first started to homeschool. At the time I was struggling to take any advice from her due to my own pride. It was not until a few years later I stumbled upon it in a thrift store. I read it right away. And Momma was right: it is a great book. It has been a number of years now since then and I am going back to revisit it, as I don't really remember much about the book any more.... just that I found it helpful and informative. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend you do so. Used copies are available quite cheap at Amazon.

Learning Styles Quiz - SchoolFamily.com
When your child starts to struggle with his school work, you begin to ask yourself:...
"Is it personality?
"Is it immaturity?"
"Is it lack of discipline?"
"Maybe it's a developmental problem?"
"Is it a learning disorder?"
"Or could it be a learning style issue?"
I am a visual learner. It made memorization very difficult. But I was great at art class! I also loved history because of all the timelines and maps and photographs. Learning your child's style could be very beneficial and help avoid a lot of frustration on BOTH your parts.
Here is a short and simple online quiz you can take with your child.
It should be very enlightening!

learning styles quiz for kids
Any parent with eyes can tell you that every child is very different from another. This, therefore, begs the question, "If their personalities differ so greatly, might also their learning styles?" Dr. Karges-Bone at Education Insite has provided a test for gradeschool aged children to learn about their unique style of learning.
