Write your own Dr Suess rhyme.

It was quite simple really. We chose a name to start with: Mo. And then we chose words that rhymed with it to make our own silly poem. Short sentences and repeating sentences are a theme in Dr Suess' work, so we tried to include those, too.

Here's our poem:

Mo grows.
Toes grow.
Nose grows.
Mo's toes and nose grow.

Oh no!
Toes foes!
Nose foes!
Here comes toes foes.
Here comes nose foes.

Mo's nose and toes
run from nose foes
and toes foes!

Run, Mo, run!

It was a big hit with my boys. They were both laughing for a long time about this project. I was pleased; it is important to me that they have a positive attitude toward poetry. This is just the beginning of my introduction of fun poetry to them.
